What an impressive scene! In this age of immorality when perfidy is common, infidelity universal and mass treachery rampant, a domestic beast has given a demonstration of a right mode of life which is very touching. A righteous cow passed away.
A vernacular newspaper the Hankook Ilbo (www.hk.co.kr) reports that the Righteous Cow ended her life at the age of 20 on the 11th of January this year at Sangju (pronounced sahng jew) and residents of Sangju, who were familiar with and close to her, carried the dead cow by truck festooned with chrysanthemum, performed funeral ceremony for her and interred her near the Sangju Museum.
The saga of her anecdote dates back to the year 1994, when a neighborly old woman, who had endeared the cow by frequent visits with special feed, had died. Then and there the cow, it is alleged, had cut off the rope and stormed out of the barn and paid a condolence visit to the house in mourning. Thereafter, it had been televised across the country on a local television station SBS (www.sbs.co.kr) that the cow pays a regular visit to the grandma's grave, whose solemn footage was really touching.
